Discovering Sesimbra, the Arrábida Sierra, Setúbal and Palmela (8 hours)
Sesimbra, Serra da Arrábida, Setúbal e Palmela
Driving you... to Sesimbra, a small fishing village since the reign of the first King of Portugal (D. Dinis) from the 13th century, with its unique landscape and scenic beauty.
Our path then leads us to Setúbal, first onto the manorial village of Azeitão, where today one can find new homes side-by-side with old Quintas and wine farms, still using the traditional methods of winemaking. Here, we visit the workshop of São Simão to understand the traditional handmade tiles process of Portugal, as well as the ceramics and porcelain of Vila Fresca.
Driving across the Arrábida sierra, we reach Setúbal, where one can lunch at several restaurants that offer traditional grilled fish as well as the famous fried cuttlefish (choco frito). We can also appreciate the Troia peninsular, before moving onto Palmela, and its historical castle. Here, the views are spectacular, where on clear days Lisbon is visible in the distance. Return to Lisbon.
