Discovering Évora, Vila Viçosa and Estremoz (8 hours)
Around Alentejo
PrivateLane driving you... on a journey to Évora, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1986, passing first through a lowland landscape dotted with oaks, olive trees and Vineyards. At the site, one can visit the key points of interest such as the Temple of Diana (Roman Temple), the Gothic Cathedral as well as the Chapel of Bones, located inside the St. Francis Church.
Then, we move onto Vila Viçosa, and take time to visit the Museum of Marble, housed in a building dating back to 1904, containing beautiful tile panels that depict the history and culture of this region. The medieval castle towers over the village and is a must stop on our tour to take in the magnificent view.
Our path onto Estremoz first takes a stop for lunch in Borba, known for its spectacular cuisine, where key ingredients include plants and aromatic herbs; enhanced with olive oil extracted from the vast groves of the Alentejo landscape. At the end of a meal it is impossible for one not to resist the regional confectionery and handmade cakes on offer. Finally, we arrive to Estremoz and enjoy the beautiful panorama of the town and its castle. Return to Lisbon.
