Gala Michelin Portugal / Spain 2019: plus 4 Michelin stars for Portuguese restaurants

Lisboa received for the first time the gala of delivery of the Michelin stars of Portugal and Spain. The choice of Portugal as host country of this ceremony is a recognition of the growing importance of Portuguese gastronomy in the international scene. The ceremony took place at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion and was attended by countless personalities from the world of national and international cuisine.

Four national restaurants were considered in the attribution of the stars, highlighting "Alma" by Henrique Sá Pessoa, who got his second star. «G Pousada» in Bragança, under the direction of the chef Óscar Gonçalves, «The Kitchen» by chef António Loureiro located in Guimarães, and «Midori» directed by chef Pedro Almeida in Sintra are the others elected by the Michelin Guide. It is noteworthy that these three restaurants are located outside large urban centers, confirming that national gastronomy is a reference asset throughout the territory. Gastronomy and wine also play an increasingly important role as a distinctive cultural and social element, contributing to the economic development of the entire territory and to the affirmation of Portugal's identity.
